Published by Singer - 1943
Details:
This is an original softcover book. 48 pages.

This book explains everything from how to measure yourself, how to alter a pattern, how to do shirring and ruffling, to smocking children's dresses and making baby clothing.  Setting sleeves section includes a part about epaulette sleeves, which were popular in this era.  Interestingly, the closures section mentions buttons and hooks and eyes, but not slide fasteners (zippers).  Slide fasteners are mentioned, however, in the plackets section.  Also of note is that the decorative detail section mentions quilting, scalloped tucks, fagoting, and hemstitching, but does not mention frippery such as lace.  This is an indication of the war era and its rationing.

Nice little period book, in very good condition, with tight binding.  There is some foxing to the cover (as shown) but this is merely an indication of age, not damage.
