The 1950s were ushered in by Christian Dior's New Look -- a nipped waist/full skirt combination that turned post World War 2 fashion on its ear. Circle skirts were all the rage, the further you went into the 50s, but sleek sheaths became more popular in the latter part of the decade. Designer patterns like Ceil Chapman, Fontana, Biki, Tom Brigance, Suzi Perette and even Adrian became very popular. The closer to the 60s you get, the more rockabilly you get, with plenty of frilly full skirts to choose from too. Check out our patterns -- you'll find a little of each style to choose from.
Sewing patterns were unprinted -- made without the typical markings you see on patterns now -- till the mid 50s, so be sure to read the listing to see whether the pattern is marked or not.
