McCall 692 Size 2 Toddler Smocked Dress Sewing Pattern Vintage Smocking Pattern Toddlers

This is an original printed pattern.  It has been previously used but is complete.  From 1939. The tiny baby has a narrow row of smocking around the yoke; the two and three year olds have a straight band at the waistline as well.  It's the pleated smocking -- worked from a transfer that stamps both smocking dots and the cross-stitch design at once.  The smocking is worked first and the cross stitch last.  As each smocking stitch is worked, a pleat is formed and this brings the cross stitch on top of the pleats.
